How Do You Offer Lessons?

Come to 5PiECE’s studio located in the west-end of Toronto for a private lesson.

You’ll learn directly from 5PiECE as he walks you through his production process from start to finish.  Topics covered will include navigating Ableton, music theory and composition, drum programming and more. You may also ask questions to gain further clarification around how to create a beat from scratch.

Not in Toronto? No problem. 5PiECE has worked with many international clients in places such as Iceland, Hong Kong, Russia, Switzerland and more.

Lessons are tailored to each student and formatted the same as in-person. Submit questions before the lesson so 5PiECE may answer them within the lesson.

Due to time-zone differences and internet quality issues between countries, these lessons are not live. Instead they are pre-recorded in HD and sent immediately after recording.

Past Client Testimonials

I’ve never taken music production lessons in my life, so I didn’t know what to expect when i met 5PiECE. I’m grateful to have met him as he was able to walk me through the production process from start to finish explaining the “why” throughout to better my understanding. He's made me think deeper about how to approach making beats, and its clear that he wants to see his students develop. He’s an amazing and patient teacher and I highly recommend 5PiECE to anyone looking to take up music production or become better at it.

Producer/Entrepreneur, Toronto

As someone who has been DJing for years, I have always had a keen and genuine interest in production. I realized that some of my DJ performances and battles actually had a live production aspect to them and thought "well if I can do this live, imagine the possibilities of creating in a software like Ableton."  5 showed me how I could take my current knowledge and skills and apply them to the world of production. He taught me how to use Ableton and the foundational tools in order for me to make my own music. 5 is an excellent teacher, who is extremely patient and thorough. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in learning how to make beats. He's your guy!

Classes are customized to each student.

For beginner production lessons, we have developed a proprietary curriculum that teaches you the fundamental elements of music production and how to approach applying it in real-life creative situations. This curriculum is stretched over multiple lessons that cover topics such as sound selection, drum programming, melody, arrangement and final mixing/mastering and more.

For mixing/mastering lessons, students often arrive with a personal song/beat they want to focus on mixing and mastering. This song is mixed in front of them while the decisions and thought-processes behind the mix decisions are explained by the instructor. This helps the student understand what is being done and why its being done so that the student can leave with an example of how to apply the knowledge within their own work. Students are also able to ask questions or for specific demonstrations during the lesson as well.
